Brief Answer: Allergic reaction to Aleve, take otc antihystamine Detailed Answer: Hi, I have gone through your medical history carefully. Feeling your upper lip getting swollen and numb after taking Aleve indicates a possible allergic reaction to Aleve (if you took only Aleve and no other drug). It is not a sign that you are going to die, but should take proper measures in time to prevent severer complications. You can take an over the counter anti-hystamine drug and not to use Aleve anymore. Should report this side effect to your doctor in order not to consider taking it anymore. If swelling will not reduce or symptoms will worsen, then, should go to ER. Next, black streak across your left index finger might be indicative of: - any trauma you had recently and you do not remember it - long term use of Aleve (bleeding under nail bed) - fungal infection of nail A further consultation with dermatologist is needed for final conclusions. At the end, you cannot take Aleve or any other pain-killer for the rest of your life. Instead, you should find out what is causing pain. Thus, when you see dermatologist, you can discuss this problems with him/her to find out the right solution. Pain in your groin and buttock might be related to: - infection of uro-genital tract - bowel problems (hemorrhoids) - any recent trauma you had - or any problem related to local blood circulation Discuss it further with dermatologist/physician to find out the right diagnosis and get properly treated. Hope it was of help! Do not hesitate to write me back if you have further queries! Dr.Albana

Fingernail problem... is it possible for this to be melanoma? Groin pain.. You are my last solution for an answer on that one. I do not take ANY Pain medication other then Aleve. I Have gone to many doctors whom none can come up with a solution. I REFUSE to take pain meds. Im not into that. I want to know what the problem is and its never been answerered. I cant even have sex at times. Aleve has been my answer for the pain during the last year. This has been going on for many years now.

Brief Answer: Following answers to your queries... Detailed Answer: Hi back, Thank you for following up. To determine if the nail problem you are having, further tests are needed: - microscopical examination of nail scrapping with KOH 10% - biopsy of nail bed To my opinion, yours is more likely to be related to trauma or fungal infection. However, the above-mentioned exams would determine it better. With regards to groin pain, as mentioned earlier, I'd like to have the answers to the following : - have you been tested for urinary and/or genital infections? - have you had any trauma prior to pain started? - have you done any abdominal ultrasound to check for prostatitis? - are you experiencing problems with bowel movements? - have you undergone any test to examine the local nerves or blood circulation (vessels)? - any other tests for STDs? Aleve is a pain-killer and anti-inflammatory drug. If Aleve is helping reducing the groin pain, it means that there is an inflammation there that is causing pain. If I was your caring doctor would run the tests as mentioned earlier to find out "WHY". Thank you! Dr.Albana Do not hesitate to write back to me if you need further clarifications.
