What Causes Swelling And Pain Area Around The Lower Ear?
Possible TMJ problem but to tell for sure need more information
Detailed Answer:
Hello,
Thank you for using HCM to post your question.
From what I read from your description above is not clear if the area is above TMJ or in another position. Yes, TMJ inflammation can give a painful area but it doesn't give lymph nodes. The lumph nodes on the other side can come from the area you have been scratching, or you may have had them previously and noticed only now.
Can you post a picture where you indicate the place that is tender?
Also, do you have pain while you open wide your mouth? because this would be a very clear symptom of inflamed TMJ.
If not, then I would need some more information, so I can understand where exactly the swollen area is.
It may be related with the parotis or spit glands, in this case you may need to do an ultrasound to tell that for sure.
Other symptoms you have noticed, would be helpful if you write those here for me, so I can be able to give a more accurate answer.
Looking forward to your follow-up question.
Regards,
