Brief Answer:
propably its phlebities

Detailed Answer:
Hi,
I have gone through your query in detail and will help you in best possible way,

From your history,
What I think about it is superficial phlebitis,
Its more common in elderly patients,

Warm compresses and antiinflammatory drugs gives relief and it will take care of it own,

If pain in hampering your daily activities,
Then you can use pain killers also.

Antibiotic is not generally prescribed,

Its not that serious condition, warm compresses,
Antiinflammatory drugs, and pain killer will take care of it,it will be better in a week or two,

Your treating doctor will be knowing the dose of antiinflammatory drugs and pain killers,
Hope this information helps,

Wish you a good health.
