What Causes Swelling And Pain In Feet While On Antibiotics For Breathing Problem?
My father usually has swollen feet and pain the the feet at almost all times of the day. We've bought a leg and foot massager and he is getting his feet massaged through a local masseur as well.
He is a cardiac patient and had a stunt Implanted almost 10 years back. He also has breathing problems for which medications are going on since quite some time now.
His regular medications include
Ecosprin
Losar
Zivast
Esiflo
Tiate
Any suggestions what we can do for which can help him ease the pain
Needs further assessment
Detailed Answer:
Hi friend
Welcome to Health Care Magic
Only symptomatic treatment can be given until a definite diagnosis is made – drugs like paracetamol for pain relief / drugs like gabapentin for elevation of pain threshold… are generally given in such circumstance...
Drugs and their dosage may need modification, if the swelling is from heart failure
Lab tests for kidney and liver function will exclude them as the cause of swelling
A Doppler study of lower extremity VEINS is necessary to exclude deep venous thrombosis – which is notoriously difficult to diagnose by clinical examination
A similar Doppler study for the ARTERIES of leg and thigh is also in need – there could be narrowing of the blood vessels here, just like the ones in the heart…
Appropriate treatment demands accurate diagnosis
Diagnosis demands examination; probably investigation too
GET EXAMINED – again – by his heart specialist and/or vascular surgeon
The treating doctor alone could conclude better based on total clinical picture…
Good luck
God bless you
