What Causes Swelling And Pain In Front Of The Right Ear?
Question: Hi doctor,
on the 15th morning when I woke up I was feeling an uneasy pain on the face line near the right ear.
when I saw the mirror, there was a swelling covering the front portion of my ear till the face line only the right corner. I have attached the image as well.
can you please suggest what this could be? the doctor prescribed me augmentin considering it to be an infection but today its even more worse, swelling increased and I am unable to open my mouth. please suggest.

Brief Answer:
Unilateral swelling of parotid gland
Detailed Answer:
Hi,
It is a swelling of the parotid gland a gland responsible for salivary secretion while you chew food. It is swollen and infact infected because of the redness it has.
Continue the Augmentin tablet twice a day for one week
Hot fomentation over the swelling
Tab HIFENAC one tab twice a day for two days.
Complete rest at home and do not move out.
a lot of juices (preferably normal temp) and water, coconut water etc
Actually we need to investiagate for infection or swelling. it could be obstruction, stone, infection. Since it is on one side most likely a stone or obstruction. Once you are well please visit an ENT surgeon
