What Causes Swelling And Pain In Testicle With Burning Urination?

default
Posted on Tue, 24 Nov 2015
Question: Hi I'm an 18 year old male and I have noticed that my right testicle is slightly harder and firmer than my left testicle.
I occasionally get pains in my right testicle which can happen every few weeks. I have received a few kicks to the testicles a few years ago, but not a major injury.
I have noticed that my scrotum skin has become red and I get pain in my lower abdomen after urination and sometimes a stinging pain at the tip of my penis after urination which lasts for about 5 minuites.
I was born with problems with my kidneys and had an operation to correct bilateral reflux when I was 6 years old. I currently have right sided renal scarring.
Could this possible be linked and should I see my GP.
Thanks

Brief Answer:
Need to get investigated .

Detailed Answer:
Hello
Thanks for your query, based on the facts that you have posted it appears that you have swelling of Rt testicle , occasional pain in testicle, burning urination etc .

These symptoms are mostly due to infection of testicle (Orchitis) secondary to UTI .

Please consult qualified Urologist for clinical and digital rectal examination and get following basic tests done to confirm the diagnosis.
1) Urine routine and culture.
2) Ultrasound scanning of abdomen and pelvis
3) Ultrasound Scanning of scrotum .
4) Color Doppler study of scrotum.

In the mean while start taking broad spectrum antibiotics like Cefixime along with urinary antiseptic like Nitrofurantoin twice daily and urine alkaliser thrice daily.Later on switch on to appropriate antibiotics as per culture report.

Get the prescription of medicines from your family Physician.

Ensure to drink more water. To keep your urine dilute This will help to control dysuria.

Further treatment will depend upon result of these tests and final diagnosis.

Hope I have answered your query ,please feel free to ask if you have more questions I shall be happy to help you
Thanks and Regards.

Brief Answer:
Orchitis is always secondary to UTI

Detailed Answer:
Hello
Thanks for follow up Burning urination signifies UTI and Orchitis is always secondary to UTI which will get confirmed on urine culture .

Redness of the scrotal skin is due to Orchitis itself .

These symptoms are not related to Bilateral reflux that is treated in childhood .

Thanks and Regards.
