What Causes Swelling Behind Ears And Pain While Opening Mouth?
Question: Hi I am 24 years Old male
on the left side .behind the ear n under the face i am having Swelling !! its not much painfull, hard to open the mouth fully !! so pls kindly explain is this something serious. i got fever two days back . but got treated . now am fine.. but this swollen area under the face is worrying me.. hope yu could see the difference in the attached pic left side of my face is so plumpy !!

Hello sir,
I have seen the pics you uploaded. From your symptoms and the pictures it appears you have developed parotitis. There is a large salivary gland in front of , below and behind the ear called the parotid gland. Infection of this gland produces all the symptoms that you just described. Majority of the times the infection is viral in nature and is called mumps. Do not worry, the condition is self limiting. If there is pain take a pain killer like paracetamol or ibuprofen after checking the dose. Maintain good oral hygiene and you should be fine.
