What Causes Swelling Below The Knee With Pulsating Sensation?

Question: We have a carpenter who works at home for us in India; he has a very frail constitution and is around 72 years old. He tends to sit on the ground to work with pressure more on the left leg than the right. Since yesterday, he is complaining of a swollen leg below the knee on the left side, no pain but a pulsating sensation; no pain only pulsations and some swelling. Could you help? Is it DVT?
Brief Answer:
It could be DVT(deep vein thrombosis).
Detailed Answer:
Hello,
Thanks for your query.
It could be DVT(deep vein thrombosis). Some times there is no symptoms like pain. So it is better to get it evaluated. He may need dopplar ultrasound and a D-Dimer blood test to make a diagnosis.
Exercise lower calf muscles if he will be sitting a long time. Whenever possible, get up and walk around.
I do hope that you have found something helpful and I will be glad to answer any further query.
Take care
