
What Causes Swelling In Left Thumb?

Question: I awaken this morning and experienced pain/ minor swelling in my left thumb. No prior injuries: do have carpal tunnel in both wrist. Currently thumb on ice, secured to next finger...very painful without ice.

1- No redness, minor swelling

1. Thumb arthritis or synovitis
2. Hair line fracture
To find out the cause I would suggest you to get x ray. This will confirm the diagnosis. Till you get your x ray, you should continue with ice. Avoid any massage.
