What Causes Swelling In Lower Legs, Ankles And Feet?
Question: I have swelling in both lower legs, ankles, and feet. I have had this issue for a long time and it normally comes and goes. The past 1.5 weeks I was put back on a diuretic. It still not working. I have done all the usual things like putting my feet up etc. I have noticed that even with the water pill my trips to the bathroom are just a couple 2 or 3 times daily. Have had a vascular specialist, ultra sounds, blood tests etc. and my internist does not seem to know anything. She said it was being on my feet too much but I have been off work for 3 weeks. Any suggestions?
Brief Answer:
change or increase dose of water pills
Detailed Answer:
Hi
There are many causes of swelling feet and legs- heart, renal, liver disease or some time protein deficiency.
If all other causes are ruled out than we can increase the dose of water pills or there are many strong medicines like metolazone etc.
low salt diet, exercise as help in some extent, but I advised you to go for full check up to find out the cause of refractory swelling and than increase dose of water pills.
Hope this will help
