What Causes Swelling In Scrotum And Tongue While Treating Common Cold?

Question: I am in the latter stages of having a common cold. The day before yesterday I noticed my scrotum had swollen to double its size but by yesterday it had returned to normal. Today I have woken and found that the right side of my tongue has swollen. Can you tell me what might be wrong ?

Noted your history of taking paracetamol for your suffering from the later stages of having common cold. Has scrotal swelling the day before yesterday which got cleared and now have swelling of the right side of the tongue.

No other symptoms like what you have mentioned although I do still have a bit of a cough as I'm still recovering from a cold which started on Sunday.

My tongue is no longer swollen but is painful on right side as if I have bitten it while sleeping?

The appearance however is strange as it has a white coating now. This is new as although it was swollen this morning the skin condition looked healthy.

The swelling with white coating on the tongue can be due to ulcer formation and added on with oral thrush that is fungal infection.
If you please post a clear photigraph, it will help me to give you diagnosis.
Viral fever reduces the resistance power of the body and can cause some additional problems.
You may please consult your Doctor to confirm and get appropriate treatment.
The cause of sudden edema which gets completely cured may be due to angioneurotic edema or urticaria, please discuss this with your Doctor to get proper diagnosis and treatment.

Angioneurotic edema - Is this a serious condition ? Should I be overly concerned ?

Not serious condition unless it is in throat or so

As per your history the tongue lesion would be an aphthous ulcer and the white coating can be due to oral thrush. Use anti-fungal oral preparation in consultation of your Doctor.

Angioneurotic edema is not a serious condition unless it occurs in the throat , so please do not worry too much about it unless it repeats. You can take antihistamine the moment you get another and will settle soon.

This looks like aphthoid ulcer, the exact reason is not known why does it come.
Te area nearby get coated as cleaning is difficult and can get oral thrush.
Use oral anti-fungal solution.
Take multivitamins.
