What Causes Swelling In Stomach, Excessive Fatigue, Fever And Headaches?

default
Posted on Fri, 28 Aug 2015
Question: The last couple weeks I have gained about 10lbs, mainly in my midsection. My belly seems to be getting bigger and if i stand a certain way it is shaped in a weird way. I can feel the hardness inside of my belly as well. I have taken a laxative to clear my colon to make sure that wasn't an issue. When I lay down and push on the hardness I get bad pain in my lower back. I have been battling other symptoms as well for almost a year now; extreme fatigue, fevers, headaches, enlarged lymph nodes are a few of the bigger symptoms. I have had many blood tests and the last one came back pretty normal my eos was a little high, my bun/creat ratio was low. I stay hydrated. I 32 and have type 1 diabetes for about 17 years now and wear an insulin pump. My sugars are okay so I know that isn't an issue. Please help because my belly just keeps getting bigger.

my belly started getting bigger a couple weeks aho. there's no aggravation when I walk or cough. but the littlest amount of food I eat, it makes my belly feel extremely bloated. my belly still is bulging when I'm lying down. no one other than me has diabetes. I've been on adderall for about 4 years now for ADD

Brief Answer:
Get an ultrasound abdomen done

Detailed Answer:
hello

Thank you for getting back with the answers. I have gone through them. I would suggest you to once get an ultrasound abdomen done. It will confirm the status of abdominal viscera. There is a possibility that the swelling you are referring is actually subcutaneous fat. ultrasound will confirm that as well. If its confirmed then there are certain measures that you can follow and that will help you reduce the fat. Body requires certain amount of calories per day. Now to reduce weight our calories intake should be less than the required for that specific age. In this way body will burn the already deposited fat. To reduce weight you will be required to do following two things
1. Manage diet
2. Increase physical activity

1. Diet:
> It plays a very important role. Do not skip breakfast in any case. Take lighter lunch & dinner. While skipping a meal will reduce your calorie intake for that hour, it will leave you much hungrier later on. Irregular eating habits disrupt body's metabolism, which makes it harder to lose weight.
> Eat fresh fruits & vegetables.
> Swap whole milk for semi-skimmed, or semi-skimmed for skimmed milk.

>> You will be required to reduce fatty meal to minimum. Avoid following foods as much as possible:
- Sugar
- Drinks
- Cheese
- Junk food
- biscuits/chips
- Margarine/butter and full-fat mayonnaise.

2. Physical activity:
Its also important to burn the existing fat. There are a number of sports activities which you can opt. Best for you would be brisk walk for 30-45 mins daily. Always use the stairs instead of the lift, or get off the bus a stop before the usual one and walk the rest of the way.

Hope I have answered your query. If you have any further questions I will be happy to help if not then don't forget to close the discussion and rate it.
Wishing you good health !!
