What Causes Swelling Of Feet?

default
Posted on Mon, 26 May 2014
Question: my doctor told me the reason for my feet swelling is because of veins bleeding out in them. I don't see any veins under my skin nor do I have any discomfort in my feet other than the swelling. Could you please give me your views on this. Thank you

Brief Answer:
Should do better examination of heart and kidneys

Detailed Answer:
Hello and thank you for asking HCM,

I understand your concern. By feet swelling, your veins aren't bleeding in the direct way, there is just fluid coming out from your veins. There are a lot of reasons why this is happening.

Normally the pressure and concentration in your veins should be balanced with the pressure and concentration of fluid from the region outside the veins. So every thing which leads to high pressure in your veins or low concentration of blood in your veins leads to fluid escape through them into the surrounding tissue.

My suggestion is to discuss with your GP a proper examination of your body starting with your heart and kidneys to evaluate the right reason why your feet are swelling. Without a good reason the treatment will never be good.
In the interim, keep your limbs elevated and avoid prolonged standing / dependent posture.

I hope this answer was helpful to you.
