What Causes Swelling Of Left Side With Bruise After An Injury?

Question: I fell broke 3 ribs it is swollen on left side it is bruised a lot purple in color., also my left foot and leg are swollen.. Could other organs be involved. I went to E.R. & followed up with my doctor

Some rib fractures on left side (especially lower ribs) can result with spleen injury. Rib fracture can also be a cause of pneumothorax (air between the lung and thoracic wall). Foot an leg swelling can indicate some fractures in this region as well. In your diagnostics you should have abdominal ultrasound, rib X-rays, chest X-ray (not the same as rib X-ray). leg x-rays and blood work.
