What Causes Swelling On Face, Hands And Feet?
needs urgent evaluation
Detailed Answer:
Hello
Thanks for the query
The fact that you are having retention of water in the form of facial puffiness and pedal edema points towards a nephrotic syndrome most likely to be post streptococcal glomerulonephritis or IgA nephropathy.
Here is how you should go about it
1. Skip a day of work and go to a gp, get your blood pressure and urine routine done
2. You will need to take diuretics like tab lasix to reduce the swelling
3. keep a watch on your urine output, it should be above 750 ml. Also watch out for blood in urine
4. Please do not ignore this matter, it's of immediate concern
5. Please avoid Motrin until evaluation
I hope I was of help, if you have any further queries please get back to me
Regards
is it possible that eating very badly with a lot of salt for 5-7 days to cause this swelling? The swelling has gone down by around 75%. I found no blood in urine and urine output has been really good. I have not been on my feet most of the day

Hello
Thanks for getting back, I am sorry for the short delay in my reply. I was on call at my hospital
Eatinf excess salt should not have caused this, if you do not have difficulty in breathing then you can wait till Monday.
One more thing, please get your thyroid function tested too, thyroid dysfunction can also lead to swelling
