What Causes Swelling On Legs After Fluid Drainage Form Stomach?

Question: I have stage 4 breast cancer that has metastasized to the left lung and the abdomen tissues..... they drained 6 liters from my stomach and 1 from my lung about a week ago. It is collecting again but it is not enough to be drained again. The main problem that I have now is my legs are super swollen and my feet as well... they are hard and cold... I feel them but because of it I can't walk much since they are super heavy.. what I can I do...
Brief Answer:
Nutritional support with protein supplements
Detailed Answer:
Hi. Thanks for the query. Whenever fluid is drainedyou also lose body proteins. This reduces the blood osmotic pressure and causes the dependent edema in the legs. You need to take protein supplements. Diuretics such as Furesamide with lasilactone will also help. The next your fluid is drained it can be done with albumin infusion. This will temporarily replace the protein loss and reduce the edema. You can also wear elastic leg stockings.
