What Causes Swelling On Shin Post Injury?

Question: 4 days ago I fell into a hole scraping and bruising my shin and praining my ankle. a medic on the trip checked me out and determined that no bones are broken. the swelling and pain from the sprain is decreasing, but in the last couple of hours I noticed the swelling on my shin when I press it with my finger it takes a while for it to return back to normal level. it does not hurt but I am getting on a long flight to Nigeria in a few hours and wanted to check why it was a different kind of swelling?

Brief Answer:
NSAID induced edeme
Detailed Answer:
Hello
The swelling over the shin could be the side effect of the ibuprofen. Ibuprofen is from the class of non steroidal anti inflammatory agent ( NSAID) which common causes swelling of the lower limbs. Do not worry about it, it should come down in a few days. The swelling might increase as you going to take a long flight.
Sleeping with leg end elevated and avoided prolonged sitting position will bring down the edema
I hope I was of help, if you have any further queries please get back to me
