What Causes Swelling On Tongue?

default
Posted on Wed, 10 Dec 2014
Question: When I press my tongue down I have rubbery like swelling.. It first started mainly on my right side under my jaw with little pain. It also causes a little pressure and slight ear pain.. Now it has gotten "bigger" and is also including my left side being swollen but closer to my throat. I had my dentist look at it and was sent to an Oral Surgeon and had a Cat Scan done. The report showed 1. The lateral maxillary and ethmoid sinusitis. 2. Fairly marked hypertrophy of the lingual tonsils. 3. Shotty anterior cervical nodes bilaterally, submandibular glands normal. I left with no answers.. Any ideas?!

Brief Answer:
Sinusitis associated with tonsillar nodal enlargement,

Detailed Answer:
Thank you for asking

The reports clearly indicate of these bumps as enlarged tonsillar lymph nodes. Sinuses are the hollow spaces between the bones of faces, and their infection is called sinusitis. Its a classic sinusitis presentation and all it needs is some antibiotics and some symptomatic treatment with decongestants and pain killers.

I am sure conservative management will fix it. Get an otorhinolaryngologist and let them take care of this simple issue ASAP.

I hope it helps. take good care of yourself and dont forget to close the discusison please. May the odds be ever in your favour.

Regards.
