What Causes Swelling Right Next To Thyroid Gland?
Question: on the left side of my collar bone on the tip closet to my thyroid my collar bone feels slightly raised, hard and maybe a little swollen with a minor sore throat. I have on occasion felt heart burn and acid refluxs once. also a nausea feeling at around 7 pm when I get it ...usually occurs around or right after my period. I will be 45 this dec and 170lbs. I do suffer from arthritis in my neck on the right side and i have been having headaches. can this be stomach or thyroid cancer?
Brief Answer:
Lymph node
Detailed Answer:
Hello
Thanks for the query
A small swelling right next to the thyroid could be a lymph node. It is frequently seen when one has sore throat and it regresses on its own.
This is what you should do
1. Gargle your throat with salt and warm water.
2. Watch for the swelling, if it does not reduce even after a week of settling of the sore throat, approach a GP for examination. It might require a biopsy
3. For the gastritis Tab Omeprazole is an excellent tablet, take it once daily before food.
4. Please get yourself evaluated for the arthritis by a rheumatologist
I hope I was of help, if you have any further queries please get back to me
