What Causes Swollen Bleeding Lower Lip After Using Efudex?
Question: I have been using Efudex on my face and lips for 5 weeks and my lower lip has become very swollen today and constantly weeps and bleeds.I am a long way from my primary care Dr and I did see a Dr in the ED of the local hospital 2 days ago and he said I need excision and plastic surgery.
Do I keep using Efudex ? I won't get back home till Tuesday to see my doc and Dr who prescribed cream I can see on Thursday.

Efudex is topical 5-fluorouracil (5-FU) which is an anti-cancer drug and was probably prescribed for actinic cheilitis and actinic keratosis on face.
Fluorouracil can cause irritation/ inflammation and may present as edema, erosions, weeping, bleeding and crusting.
I suggest you to discontinue this cream for the time being.
You may rather use a moderately potent topical steroid e.g mometasone furoate 0.1% cream Or triamcinolone acetonide 0.1%, twice daily, over the affected area for next 3-5 days.
Protect from sun. Use a sunscreen.
