What Causes Swollen Elbow And Dry Cough After Having Unprotected Sex?
You are HIV non reactive person...
Detailed Answer:
Hello XXXX,
Thank you for posting your query at Healthcaremagic.
I read and understand your concern, I am Dr Arun Tank, Infectious disease specialist answering your concern.
You can allay the fear of HIV.
You can declare yourself as HIV negative as your antibody test after 96 days is non reactive which is also supported by the high specific western blott analysis test.
For your better understanding I can tell you that window period is the period from the entry of HIV in the host and the appearance of detectable levels of HIV specific antibodies. During this period individual is infected, is infectious to others but is seronegative i.e. HIV test for detecting antibodies are negative.
Window period can range from 3 weeks to 3 months. But it can be longer in some individuals.
So from the last test you have conducted it becomes clear that your 96 days test are non reactive and it declares you as HIV negative person.
Dont get confuse with internet stuff as they some times mix up window period with clinical symptoms rather than antibodies detection.
Lymph node swelling dose not mean you are HIV reactive person. It can be seen in number of other situations also like TB.
You can ask me for further clarification here or you can ask me on bit.ly/DrArun.
Thank you

Immunocompromised condition need retesting at 6 months
Detailed Answer:
Hello XXXX,
96 days antibody test is reliable, so you can count yourself as HIV non reactive.
If one is having immunosuppression or condition related to it then one can have long window period. In this condition you need to test yourself at 6 month.
Immunocompromise conditions are HIV, steroid therapy, organ transplant, chemotherapy etc.
So if these conditions exist, you may need retesting at 6 months.
You can ask me for further clarification.
Thank you,
Dr Arun Tank
