What Causes Swollen Face While On Steroid Injections?
Question: My 51 year old son is on disability -- one cause is severe back pain. He has had about three sessions of steroid injections for the last two or three .
His face has gotten quite swollen -- could that be the cause? He is not ingesting anything with steroids now.
Once the injections stop will the swelling go down?

Brief Answer:
yes that is probably the cause
Detailed Answer:
Hello,
Steroid injections can cause the puffy face that is often associated with steroid use. Once he is no longer getting injections the swelling should go down but it can take 6-12 months. Make sure he sees his regular doctor soon to get some blood tests to make sure there is no other cause for the swelling.
