Brief Answer:
due to trauma

Detailed Answer:
HI, thanks for using healthcare magic

Swelling and discolouration most commonly occurs as a result of injury which can be minor or major.
It occurs as a result of the body's inflammatory response to trauma. If the trauma was severe you would need imaging to rule out fracture but if this is not the case then you can do the following

Treatment mainly involves:(1) rest the area
(2)elevate to help reduce the swelling, would also help with pain relief
(3)apply ice pack to the area- for 10 to 15 minutes, 3 to 4 times a day
(4)if you have any anti inflammatory pain killers such as ibuprofen/naproxen/cataflam/celebrex then you can use one of these once you have no history of allergies or any reactions

It can take a few days , in some cases longer, for the symptoms to resolve.
When it starts to feel slightly better, it is important to move it as much as possible, the fingers have a tendency to get stiff if not moved for a while

I hope this helps, feel free to ask any other questions

Brief Answer:
not likely based on images

Detailed Answer:
HI

Based on the image it does not appear broken but this is normally determined by physical examination.
Your doctor would need to check for any deformity (nil seen in image), any particular area of tenderness and limited movement, would also need to assess the severity of the pain on physical examination.

If you are experiencing only mild pain on movement and no deformity then it is unlikely to be broken.
