What Causes Swollen Legs And Hands While Having Anemia?

Question: My daughter who is 39 and has acute fibromyalgia and has not been able to digest her food most of the time for 6 mos. now has very swollen feet and ankles and nothing helps she has been resting all day, she feels dizzy when she puts her head down, is having problems breathing and has a low grade fever.
She is severly anemic and has iron infusions two times a week but they can not get it above 8. Please advise me I'm afraid her kidneys or something is shutting down.

All her symptoms are due to anaemia
Detailed Answer:
Hello , Thank you for posting your question on Health Care Magic
All the symptoms which you have mentioned including swelling of the legs and hands , weakness everything could be due to anaemia.
Was a peripheral smear done to know the type of anaemia ? If it is due to iron deficiency then definitely iron replacement should help.
She can also increase iron content in her food by taking plenty of green leafy vegetables, jaggery also helps.
If you are worried about kidney failure please get a blood urea and creatinine done.
If her anaemia is treated adequately even her fatigue due to fibromyalgia will resolve
Please share the peripheral smear report
Best wishes
