What Causes Swollen Lymph Nodes On Neck With Normal FNAC Test?
Repeat FNAC- Biopsy to confirm.
Detailed Answer:
Hi.
Thanks for your query, albeit small and specific.
I would like to know more details, as that will help us both to come to a conclusion.
Since when have you got the neck lymph nodes?
-Are they on one side or both sides?
-What are the sizes like just palpable- less than a centimeter or more than a centimeter?
Are they painful on pressure?
Are they XXXXXXX or fixed ?
Are they discrete or attached to each other?
What is the status of the scalp ( any dandruff), teeth, oral cavity, pimples, sinusitis or any infection in the head and neck area?
Please post the scanned copies of the reports attached to this query, I may get some clue.
As a general rule if the lymph nodes are less than 1 cm , discrete, non-tender, lurking for a long time without any increase or either local or general ( fever, loss of appetite, weight) symptoms the worry is reduced. And in your case the CT scan, FNAC and other tests are normal.
I would advise you the following:
Take a second opinion if you are too much worried.
Repeat the FNAC from another Pathologist
Take a course of an antibiotic and anti-inflammatory medicines for 1 to 3 weeks , see the progress.
If still in doubt the best confirmatory test is a formal Lymph node biopsy Done by an ENT or General Surgeon.
This will give the final diagnosis and the worries will come to an end.
I hope this answer helps you, please free to ask for further information if you need to and you may rate this answer if you liked it.
Could read your XXXXXXX query. TMJ ( TM Joint) affections usually do not cause lymph nodes swelling in the neck.
Continue medicines/ liquid diet only.
Detailed Answer:
Thanks for your feedback.
If this is a single node, of 5 days origin just continue the medicines.
It is soft and no other symptoms other than mild nose congestion and more pain in TMJ. Please do not worry much.
Cancer nodes take a long time to appear, are hard and painless ( if this is what is bothering you).
For TMJA- Take soft or liquid diet. The medicines you are taking for the lymph nodes also will work for TMJA.
Yes, 1 to 3 weeks
Detailed Answer:
Yes, it may take from 1 to 3 weeks for all the inflammation in the node, salivary gland and TMJ to settle.
