What Causes Swollen Lymph Nodes?

Question: Hello, a scaly growth has appeared on my left index finger. It contains off color hues but is not distinctly brown. I have made an appointment with a dermatologist, but it is not until August. I am concerned. My lymph nodes are swollen, and I would like to get out ahead of this as quickly as possible. My concern is that the growth may be cancerous, and it may have spread to my lymph nodes. In the interest of early detection, is this something I should get check out at an emergency room, tonight?
Brief Answer:
where are the nodes?

The nodes are under my jaw and one in particularly enlarged one on the left side of my neck. Also, they are pretty from. The ones under my neck are sore.
Brief Answer:
then its not any cancer
Detailed Answer:
Hi XXXX
The lesion over your finger looks more like a wart or rather a callosity. And at your age we usually don't think of cancer. So don't worry about it at present and show it to your dermatologist when you have your appointment.
But even if it was a cancer then the nodes in your axilla would had enlarged, not the jaw or neck.
Also malignant nodes are usually painless. The neck and jaw nodes may be due to some infection in your throat or chest.
I would suggest that you take a course of simple antibiotics like amoxacillin for 5-7 days and see if these nodes reduce in size. If they don't show to a physician with a chest x-ray for a clinical evaluation to help reach a diagnosis. A needle biopsy of the nodes may also be needed then.
Hope i have been helpful.
