What Causes Tailbone Pain, Sudden Burning Abdominal Pain Followed By Lower Backache?
Very less chances
Detailed Answer:
Hello Mam,
Welcome to Healthcare Magic.
I understand your concern and feel sorry for the pain you are going through.After reading your condition I could possible think of some bone inflammation in your spine causing tailbone pain as the number one cause,followed by Sciatica ,rectal and abdominal issues.
Tailbone pain can be due to trauma to the coccyx during a fall, prolonged sitting on a hard or narrow surface, degenerative joint changes, or vaginal childbirth.You might be having pain after eating because of the posture of your sitting during your meal.
It is good that you are going through sigmoidoscopy and endoscopy to rule out gastrointestinal causes.I would suggest you to go for an MRI LS spine to look for any bone spurs or degenrative diseases causing compression of nerves causing pain to radiate in your buttocks.
I would ask you to talk to your doctor regarding this.Meanwhile please maintain the following;
Applying ice or a cold pack to the area several times a day for the first few days after the pain starts.
Sit completely upright with proper posture,
Avoiding sitting for prolonged periods, or placing any pressure on the area, as much as possible.
A custom pillow(esp a donut shaped) to help take pressure off the coccyx when sitting
OTC pain killers.
Lastly I would like to mention there are very negligible chances of a rectal or stomach cancer causing this pain.
Hope this helped.Feel free to ask more.

As far as my gastrointestinal pain, could this be cancer? If it is gastritis- I have been on Prilosec since Tuesday. The pain/burning is still fairly constant. It is not keeping me up at night which is a relief. When I eat I become full quickly and my stomach feels bloated/full. I'm sure that I am probably making it worse by constantly thinkng and worrying about it. The er doctor and my pcp said i would not get immediate relief, but how long until i start feeling like myself again? Also are there any pain medications that are safe to take that will not aggrevate things more?
Minimal chances ,depends on risk factors
Detailed Answer:
Hello Mam,
Thank You for writing back.
At your age there are very minimal chances of you having cancer.But some risk factors could increase incidence,those are;
A diet high in salty and smoked foods,
A diet low in fruits and vegetables,
Family history of stomach cancer,
Long-term stomach inflammation,
Smoking.
Severe Gastritis takes months to years to heal completely with proper medications and diet.So your pain will decrease gradually.If you stress youself more ,more acid production will occur causing Stress ulcers in your stomach.
I would ask you not to worry and see what your endoscopy report says.Eat small meals 3-4 times a day with lots of veggies and fruits.Drink lots of water and continue taking prilosec for now.Pain medications such as Paracetamol aka Acetaminophen is considered safe in ulcers.
Wish you have a good report of endoscopy and have a speedy recovery from ulcers.If you have no further clarifications, please rate this answer and close this discussion.Thank You!
