What Causes Tenderness On The Abdomen Associated With Loose Motion?
Question: I have had diarrhoea for 6 weeks and have no bacterial causes identified from a stool sample. I have some tenderness both sides of the lower colon. Immodium pills are slowing frequency and helping somewhat. I am early fifties, male, white, non-smoker. Next step sounds like an endoscopy. Is the process from here all reductive in terms of cause and treatment to discover both?

Tenderness on the abdomen associated with loose motion, one of the possibility could be colitis. Sometimes the stool sample would be normal.
I would suggest you the following
1. Course of antibiotic: 7 days course of Tablet Metronidazole 400 mg thrice a day
If the symptoms still persists, lower gastro-intestinal endoscopy is definitely indicated.
