What Causes Thick White Vaginal Discharge Along With Metallic Smell?

default
Posted on Wed, 25 Mar 2015
Question: I'm having thick, non clumpy, very white discharge, that has a metallic smell to it. No itching or irritation, but also vaginal dryness too (almost like my mucus is too thick to even come out). finish a course of flagyl 500mg bid for 7 days tonight, but have had no change in symptoms. I currently have a paragard, and have had it a little over a year now.

Brief Answer:
High vaginal swab Culture and sensitivity test required

Detailed Answer:
Hi

I understand your concerns about discharge.

This seems to be not responding to flagyl. Hence it is important to identify the organism causing this infection and the medicines it is responding to.

Therefore high vaginal swab culture and sensitivity of vagina to test for the discharge is required.

Hence I suggest please see you doctor and request for this test.

This test accurately identifies organism causing this infection and the medicines it is responding to.

This is not related to paragard.

Let me know if you need any more clarifications.

Dr. Soumya
