What Causes Throat Infection, Clogged Ears And Imbalance Issues?

Question: Dear Doctor,
I come to you today as I am running out of ideas or faith as to my health.
For the past month and 10 days I have been having several health issues and I can't get out of this vicious cycle. It all started with a simple sore throat when the weather here in France changed to winter. In the same period I also started a new job and the throat thing became a throat infection. As I was treating the throat infection I wasn't really able to rest so took antibiotics and only rested partially on weekends. After that my ears were always full and I felt completely off balance, like in a vertigo type of way and very tired with stiff neck.
After this period, I started to go to doctors again, they ran blood tests which were all normal. I then had two days I was so tired I couldn't;t think straight and went to the hospital. They always said it was viral and told me to do blood tests for basically everything known to mankind. I did HIV tests 3 times, the last being 7 weeks after last exposure, which here in France is conclusive. I did lyme, I did everything and it was normal.
Finally I took a week off and tarted to recover slowly but I could feel I was never really getting back to full strength. Now today the last thing that happens to me is a wisdom tooth infection in the right lower jaw. Went to the dentist today and he said it was infected the root as there is no space for the tooth to come out.

I am not sure what else to do or to think, I will take the wisdom tooth off in the coming days, I hope this will put me back to health, maybe just a fool's hope...

Brief Answer:
Wisdom tooth infection not related with the previous problem

Detailed Answer:
Dear XXXXXXX

Thank you for using HCM to post your health query.
I read carefully your question and I understand your concern.

I am sorry that you have had to go through all this.

From your description I am thinking you may have had infectious mononucleosis (the kissing disease- google it). The symptoms it gives in adults, vary and it may go on for as long as you are describing it with the sore throat. There are not many tests that rule it out, but it is self limited because it is a viral infection. Maybe your doctors have thought of it and have ruled it out.

But what it is important its that the tests have come out normal and you probably have nothing to worry about and maybe all was just a coincidence that happen close to each other. You are young so there are not many things that can be life threatening problems. I also am sure that the wisdom tooth has nothing to do with the previous symptoms, so don't worry about the connections.

So, I would like to reassure you and trust that the tests are a very good indication that what you had is passed and the wisdom tooth problem will heal fast too. It happens to all people.

What you have in your hands now, is to take care of your health- eat healthy, exercise, avoid smoking and alcohol, avoid drugs, practice a safe sex life, etc. Trust me these things make sufferings more than the other diseases.

Hope this is helpful.
