What Causes Throat Pain After Holding Back A Sneeze?
do not worry
Detailed Answer:
Hello and welcome to health care magic,
I am Dr Sriram Nathan and I will try to help you out with your problem.
You must realize that sneeze is a protective mechanism and is one of the most effective way to throw out the dust and other irritants and we should never try to hold it back. This is because the pressure generated is immense and if you hold it then there is always a chance that the repercussions can be severe.
In any case you can just hold a tissue or cloth to soften the sneeze but never hold it back! The immense pressure can stretch the body tissues and cause the problems which you are facing right now.
Having said these you must also realize that our body is very very capable of stretch and recovery. All you need to give is some time and you will definitely get better.
You must take voice rest and also do not strain for a couple of days or so. In any case you can take a mild pain killer like paracetamol in consultation with your doctor and I am sure with these you will recover in a day or two.
However if the symptoms persists beyond this time and if they are increasing in intensity then you must consult an ENT as soon as possible so that he can do an endoscopy and have a look at the cords and pharynx and give you a directed treatment.
Take only warm water and avoid spicy and oily foods for a couple of days and do not worry it will get better. In this period take only soft food which are easy to chew and swallow.
Hope this helps and if you have any doubt I will be only happy to help
regards
Dr Sriram Nathan
