What Causes Tightness And Pain On The Side Of Neck?

Neck pain
Detailed Answer:
Thank you for contacting HCM with your health care concerns
I am sorry to hear that you are experiencing pain in the side of your neck. This pain feels like a muscle tightening. This maybe due to muscle spasms either just from the neck muscles themselves or from a degenerative disk disease in the cervical spine. You can control this pain with anti-inflammatory like ibuprofen and heat or ice.
The pain could also be from heart disease. It is not uncommon for women to have neck or back pain when having heart disease like angina or heart attack. If you experience any shortness of breath or fast or irregular heart beats then you may have a heart problem.
Neck pain could also be from throat or esophageal issues like gastroesophageal reflux better known as heart burn. Treat this with prilosec or zantac or even an antacid like rolaids or tums.
So you can see neck pain could be from numerous causes. I would recommend that you see your medical provider after trying some of these treatments. But if you have any suggestion that this is heart related see your provider right away
