What Causes Tingling Feeling In Head And Face?
Usually benign, menopause related, if persistent tests necessary
Detailed Answer:
Thank you for coming to HealthCareMagic for your health related questions.
From the description it looks like the tingling feeling involves face and limbs on both sides. Usually this kind of finding is not related to any brain lesion where findings are unilateral.
Also peripheral neurological causes like peripheral neuropathy seem unlikely as they usually have a gradual progression starting from the lower limbs, not rightaway the face.
Often this kind of finding is related to stress and anxiety which are more common in women in your age undergoing menopause. It is a benign finding without any consequences.
If it is persistent then some tests should be made though to exclude other causes. It should be started with some routine blood tests, including electrolytes (calcium in particular, sodium, magnesium, potassium, phosphates) and Vitamin B12 levels. Thyroid levels as well, as hypothyroidism could be a cause.
You might have done some of these already as you mention in a previous question of yours to have had a work up recently, but in your exchange with my colleague you gave only lipid panel and urine analysis values.
I remain at your disposal for further questions.
Never thought to associate these issues with Menopause....kinda makes sense now that You mention it.
Menopause can cause many symptoms, caution is always good though.
Detailed Answer:
Yes, menopause with its hormonal changes can bring many alterations in women's bodies.
Of course the fact that changes can be present in many systems doesn't mean one has to attribute everything to menopause and neglect other causes, those tests I mentioned are necessary if they haven't already been performed.
Wishing you good health!
