What Causes Tingling On Tongue When Suffering From Diabetes?
Question: Hi I have type2 diabeties , why am having tingling sensation on my tongue! My tongue also broke out and it looks like a map on my tongue
Brief Answer:
Geographic tongue
Detailed Answer:
Hello
Thanks for the query
Geographic tongue is usually seen in patients who have diabetes and it most often associated with Vitmain B2 deficiency. The tingling sensation is because of the glossitis ( inflammation of the tongue) caused by this vitamin deficiency.
I recommend you to take multivitamins which has Vit b2, b6 and b12 in it once a day for 3 months. Over the counter multi vitamins will also do but make sure the above vitamins are in it. It should improve in 2 weeks time.
Avoid very hot beverages, smoking and spicy food until you are better as it might worsen the tingling
I hope I was of help, if you have any further queries please get back to me
Regards
