What Causes Tingling Sensation All Over The Body While On Vitamin B12 Supplements?
1/7/16
Keep using B12 and work up for other causes
Detailed Answer:
Hi! Welcome again. Thanks for keeping me in the loop. The exact outcomes of B12 in replenishing the aftermyths of its deficiency may take months to recur back. It is also important that whether you tested after starting the B12 replacement or levels were taken before? If before and those were normal, the deffienicnies of D3, folic acid and calcium haven't been ruled out. Since your doctor also agreed with the management plan we had discuss, you can further discuss about starting the supplements of those three. Even if it stays that way, then considering the neurological causes with tests like nerve conduction studies or other causes which may range to psychological pertaining of pain or tingling even when it isn't there. In any case, such can need use of fluoxetine or carbamezapines but before their use thorough neurogist review should be sought. Hoping you a speedy recovery. If you have any more questions, feel free to ask. Regards.
I am doing better. I am taking two .05 mg of Lorazepam in the morning and evening. This seems to be keeping me on an even keel. Sometimes I feel the tingling in my legs. I am also sleeping better; not sure why. Before, I was trying to wean myself off of Lorazepam but that did not work. I had a lot of tingling all over my body.
I continue to take 1000 mcg of vitamin B12. I was told that if I am not deficient in B12 then taking a supplement would not make a difference. Is that true?
Thank you for your interest and support.
Best regards,
Lorezepam can be tapered after discussing with a psychiatrist
Detailed Answer:
Hi! Thanks me to keep me in the loop. You can continue lorezepam until discussing with psychiatrist regarding switching or slowly replacing it with less addictive or dependant anxiolytics or other drugs like risperidone etc. If symptoms improved with current medication it can be due to some non objective causes. So a consultation with a psychiatrist can be aranged as in some cases of pain or tingling can be due to perception of mind which can be altered by medications or counselling.
Taking B12 supplements with normal B12 levels can rarely cause increased levels as it is water soluble and flushes out of the body with increased hydration. As I have mentioned before, getting levels or replacements for D3 and calcium may also help. In case of any query feel free to ask. Regards.
