What Causes Tingling Sensation In Arm And Numbness On Right Side Of Face?
Question: Tingling sensation in right arm, from armpit to fingers, usually after vigorous exercise. Sensation is sometimes accompanied by slight numbness on the right side of my face. Symptom lasts 5 to 15 minutes.
Brief Answer:
Diabetes needs to be ruled out. Neurological examiniation suggested.
Detailed Answer:
Thanks for asking on HealthcareMagic.
Tingling and numbness occurs when due to any reasons the supplying nerve fibres face any problems like compression or fatigue. Although I do not find the presentation remarkable, it would perhaps still be worthwhile to visit a neurologist and get yourself neurologically evaluated.
I would also insist you to get your fasting blood sugar level checked since diabetes can go undetected and can predispose you to diabetic neuropathy.

Thank you for your prompt response.
My annual lipid profile lab results never showed any sign of diabetes. Compression and/or fatigue sounds like a reasonable cause.
I normally take Pravastatin and Lisinopril at bedtime. I thought the Lisinipril might be the reason for the tingling sensation, so I skip the pills the evening before a morning bike ride, which may last 2 to 4 hours. Additionally, I slow to an easy pace for the last 15 minutes of the rides, rather than racing to the finish for a better time. That seems to work. No tingling sensation or light headedness.
What are your thoughts?

Brief Answer:
The given details seem fine.
Detailed Answer:
Thanks for writing back.
A lipid profile does not test for blood sugar levels. You need to test for that separately.
A neurological examination is required. However, if the blood sugar level comes fine I do not think that you have a cause to worry about.
