What Causes Tingling Sensation In Limbs When Diagnosed With Grave's Disease?
Graves; Tapazole
Detailed Answer:
Sorry to note your symptoms. They don't seem normal.
It is possible they may be a side effect of the tapazole which can occasionally cause skin and nerve problems.
When I see someone like you in my practice , I ask them to consider stopping the tapazole for a week or so, in order to observe if the symptoms go away. If they do, it is possible they are from tapazole. Upon restarting tapazole then, if they re-occur then it is very likely they are due to tapazole.
But I offer this trial to only those whose Graves is well controlled. Otherwise, stopping the tapazole is dangerous. So you may wish to see an endocrinologist in person who will have the opportunity to thoroughly examine you and with whom you can stay in regular touch with.
There is an alternative medication for Graves which can be taken instead of tapazole. It is called PTU (Propyl thio uracil). However it is now generally not recommended due to a risk of serious liver problems. It can cause the same skin and nerve problems too because it is in the same category as tapazole. But sometimes medication side effects are specific to one molecule.
