What Causes Tingling Sensation In The Face?

default
Posted on Mon, 3 Oct 2016
Question: I feel a slight tingling sensation in my face below my chin from yesterday (not present all the time) and sometimes in my hands and feet.
I also observe muscle spasms more frequently (about once every hour or two lasting more than 20 seconds) from last two days.
In last 10 days, I climbed and got down 4 flights of stairs multiple times. I ate apples, cucumbers, bananas and chaat items instead of my regular lunch and dinner as my mother was hospitalized and I did not have anyone at home to prepare food. Could this be a symptom of low sugar or any nutrient deficiency?

Brief Answer:
No.Its not.

Detailed Answer:
Hi XXXXX,
Thanks for being on healthcaremagic.com.
I am Dr.Ajay Panwar,a neurologist,here to answer your query.

The straightforward answer to your query is-No.These symptoms could not be due to hypoglycemia(low blood sugar) as low blood sugar does not result in such symptoms. That's plain and simple.
Muscle spasms you mentioned, must be benign fasciculations(you can see a youtube video of the same) which are usually precipitated in times of stress, fatigue and sleeplessness. These are unlikely due to any nutrient deficiency.
These will improve in the coming days.

Hope that helps. If you have any further questions,I shall be glad to have you in follow-up.

Brief Answer:
Clonazepam/Observation

Detailed Answer:
Hi XXXXX,
Thanks for being in follow-up.

As I said tingling in face and legs(at two distinct sites) is unlikely to be due to any disease pathology.Anxiety is the probable reason(anxiety can commonly cause tingling).I suggest you to take clonazepam 0.25 mg twice a day(under a physician's guidance) and hopefully it will improve.

Benign fasciculations can be at any site,be it left knee only.

Hope that helps. If you have any further questions,I shall be glad to have you in follow-up.
