What Causes Tiredness, Chills, Sinus Pain, Sore Throat And Fatigue?

default

Question: I have written a few times to doctor on here and been ill for over 6 weeks...

The breakdown and results are:

Week 1: Tiredness, chills. sinus pain, throat pain

Week 2: Chills, aches and flu like symptoms, no congestion, sinus pain and throat pain
Penicillin (did not work)

Week 3: Chills, breathlessness, tiredness, aches (full blood test and chest Xray show slight shadow on left lung and high inflammation markers)
Doxyicyline (did not work well)

Week 4: Chills, breathlessness ER visit for chest Xray, Lung, Full Blood test.
Results were clear chest and lungs and high inflammation and infection markers.
ER told me I have viral infection and also bacteria infection and high heart rate due to infection

Week 5: Tiredness, red throat, sinus pain and very fatigue - bed rest
GP order new full blood test for possible glandular fever

Week 6: Feel much better - but over last 24 hours I got bed right side throat pain and redness, tender glands. Painful glands on neck, ear pain and sinus pain.GP give me Clarithromycin but says can not see infection. Told me to wait for new blood results

I am very worried to get sick again like I was over previous weeks when I feel better.
The Clarithromycon make me feel very sick but should I continue to take them as my glands, throat and ears hurt and i feel very tired.

Please advise.

Brief Answer:
Allergy

Detailed Answer:
Dear Ms, these recurrent infections could also be triggered by allergy which tends to be more prominent in spring.

I'd suggest that, in addition to the antibiotic prescribed by your doctor, you need to add a mast cell stabilizer (eg. Singulair) once daily or an antihistaminic as Zyrtec once daily before going to bed.

Also it could be due to non-compliance in taking the previous antibiotics. While taking an antibiotic you need to stick to the exact dose, timing, and duration prescribed by your doctor to avoid a more severe rebound phenomenon of symptoms.

I'd suggest that this round of Clarithromycin should be continued for 14 days.

I hope I answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards

Hello so all the feeling of very bad infections and serious illness could be pollen? I vey much doubt that! I have no phelm, no yellow or green mucas.

I took the antibiotic about 2 hours ago but I have extreme nausea and diareria.
Do I stop taking?

I still have sore right throat, swollen and tender throat and neck glands

Regards

Brief Answer:
Allergy only predisposes to infection but doesn't cause it.

Detailed Answer:
Welcome back,

No, this is not at all caused by the allergy. Allergy only triggers the condition and make you more prone to infections. The rest of the symptoms are caused by an infectious pathogen only.

It seems that antibiotics have caused you gastritis. You may need to take Imodium for diarrhea and Metoclopramide (eg. Primperan) for nausea. Also, you can take a proton pump inhibitor(antacid) as Pantoprazole/Omeprazole once daily for gastritis.

Try to eat soft, easily digestible, less spicy home-made foods for the time being.

You should try to complete the antibiotic as prescribed by your doctor. If the symptoms of nausea and diarrhea did not resolve then please inform this to you doctor to prescribe another antibiotic which might be suitable for you.

I hope you find this helpful.
Take care

Hello,

I continued for last 3 days to take Clarithromycon and it is now not causing me any side effects.

I do have painful ears and glands still but no infection I can see (white spots)

However I am waiting for new Full blood tests and and I still feel quite shivery and achy - why could this be? Do you thin I should see a specialist or ask for further tests?

I am very worried for myself to keep felling ill with no answer.

Please find attached tests from 2 weeks ago, I am waiting on new results this week for blood.

Brief Answer:
Reports indicate presence of infection

Detailed Answer:
Dear Ms, I have gone through your reports and the abnormal findings of high White blood cell count and high neutrophils count indicate the presence of inflammation probably caused by an infection.
These levels will go back down eventually when the infection is relieved.
I am glad to hear that you are improving, but full improvement can not be reached unless you complete the whole course of antibiotic , which I would suggest that you continue taking it for 14 days .
if you feel shivery and achy then you might need to check on your body temperature as it might be elevated.
in the meanwhile ,you can use an analgesic as ibuprofen tablets 200 mg every 8 hours for the ear pain and body aches.. I hope you find this helpful..
