What Causes Trembling In Body After Holding Urine For Long?

Question: Body starts to tremble if i hold urine or stool for long
Brief Answer:
Excess sympathetic drive.
Detailed Answer:
Hello Sir.
I understand your query and concern.
The cause of tremble in your case is excess sympathetic drive due to elevation of the pressure in the abdomen while retaining faeces and stool.
This is more frequent in hypothyroid patients who are on external thyroxin supplementation. Thyroxin is known to possess the sympathetic stimulant properties.
This trembling can reduce with correction of the hypothyroid hormone abnormality with dose reduction in thyroxin.
Post your further queries,if any.
Thank you.

MY TSH LEVEL IN REPORT DATED 19.01.14 WAS 12.50 mIU/mL T3 .79 & T4 5.94 NG/ML AFTER THAT MY DOCTOR INCREASED THE DOSE TO 150MG OF THYROX PER DAY. ON MY REPORT DATED 21.07.14 MY TSH CAME DOWN TO 4.90 mIU/mL T4 69.89 & T3 .79 nmol/L AGAIN MY DOCTOR REDUCED IT TO 100MG THYROXCIN. HOW CAN I REDUCE THE CORRECTION OF THE HYPOTHROID HORMONE ABNORMALITY AND DOSE REDUTION. WHAT KIND OF DIET TO FOLLOW.
KINDLY ADVISE.
KINDLY ADVISE.
Brief Answer:
50mcg/day of thyrox dose correction is needed.
Detailed Answer:
Hello Madam,
Welcome back,
You seem to have TSH within the normal range, but T4 seems to be still significantly elevated.
This is due to over correction of your hypothyroid state leading to subacute hyperthyroidism like state causing you the present symptoms of trembling.
You need to maintain your T4 UNDER 12 mcg/dl.
In order to achieve this your thyrox have to be reduced to 50 mcg/day.
I advise you to have this reduced dose, after consulting your doctor.
I seriously hope this dose will correct the hormone abnormalities. Repeat the thyroid profile after 3 months of dose correction.
The diet which you need to follow is to consume large mounts of fruits like pomegranate and apple and leafy vegetables 100gm /day.
You should strictly avoid cabbage, spinach, broccoli, peanuts, millet and radish.
Have oatmeal 40gms in milk for breakfast. This is pretty good diet for hypothyroid patients.
Post for further questions, if any.
Thank you.

Brief Answer:
Likely parasitic infestation?
Detailed Answer:
Hi Mam.
Its good that your tremors have reduced.
You seem to have perianal pruritis
(any parasitic infestation) along with sialorrhoea.
A complete stool exam will help.
This could be controlled with Drugs like Albendazole, dicyclomine and deslor.
One tab albendazole 400 mg stat followed by tab deslor 10 mg at bed time will largely control perianal pruritis.
Tab Dicylomine will help to reduce the excess salivation when used for 1-2 weeks.
Note;these drugs have to be taken only under strict medical supervision.
Thank you

Dear Doctor XXXXXXX
My doctor advised me to have certain blood test done and i have enclosed the reports. It has been almost 25 days since i reduced Thyrox 100 mg to thyrox 50mg. The trembling of the body has almost gone.
The test was done after i took the thyrox 50 mg tablet in the morning, and TSH level has shot up to 23.52.
Kindly advise what has to be done.

Brief Answer:
Escalate dose to 75mcg/day
Detailed Answer:
Hi Sir.
I understand your concern and gone through all your reports.
Elevated TSH in your case can be managed with either 75 mcg per day from Monday to Saturday with only 50mcg on Sunday. Discuss about this with your doctor.
This seems to be the right dose for adequate control of the thyroid hormone levels.
Repeat TSH after 3 weeks.
Rest of the reports are within the normal range.
Thank you.
