What Causes Two Small Swollen Glands Under The Jaw Line?
Some information:
Detailed Answer:
Hello Ms. Baker,
Swellings under the jaw can be from lymph nodes or salivary glands.
Sometimes as we get older the salivary glands under the jaw can enlarge and are painless, and don't cause problems.
Lymph nodes can swell from post nasal drainage that we aren't even aware of, from allergies or irritants we breathe.
But painless swollen glands should always be checked out, because of the possibility of malignancy. Usually if there is malignancy causing the swelling, the glands will not be symmetrically swollen, so if that is the case for you, malignancy is less likely.
Even though this could be a benign process you should definitely get this checked out as soon as possible. Call your doctor on Monday, but if you can't get in to see him or her in the next few days, go to an urgent care to at least get them checked initially.
I hope this information helps.
That is a good plan.
