Posted on Thu, 22 May 2014
Question: for the past two weeks late of an evening as I am either in my recliner or in bed I am experiencing what I would call uncontrollable jerking in my legs and arms. at times the muscles of my back will contract so much that I will arch somewhat like a cat who is stretching. At first I suspected restless leg syndrome , but this is not confined to my legs. I have tried muscle relaxers, chiropractors, heat ,ice, hot baths, nothing seems to stop the stretching jerking feelings HELP

Brief Answer:
It can be low calcium or salt

Detailed Answer:
Hello sir,
I have studied your case and I have seen lot of such cases in my practice so I can share with you my experience. I think there can be deficiency of vitamin B 12, calcium and salt in your body. You can get following investigations.
1. Serum B 12 estimation
2. Vit D and calcium level
Till you get these reports I would like to advice you following.
1. Take a salty lemonade whenever you feel like muscle contraction. It will go immediately.
2. Take Methylcobal tablet daily.
3. Also take Calcium and vitamin D daily .
I hope this answer will help you . Let me know if you want to ask an thing else.
Thanks and take care.

Brief Answer:
You can visit the neurologist

Detailed Answer:
Hello sir,
I generally start my patients on few measures as described above before referring them to a neurologist. You can take an opinion from the neurologist as you start the aforementioned suggestions.

Do not be concerned. It is not something sinister.

Thanks and take care.
