What Causes Uncontrollable Tremors In The Hands?

Cause of shaking and jerking of hands
Detailed Answer:
Hi Dear XXXX, thanks for asking from HCM.
I can understand your concern. At 59 years age, if both hands are shaking and jerking, it could be due to many causes like
: Anxiety and panic disorder - It can be suspected if you have some stress or facing some stressful condition. It can cause tremors, sweating in palms and soles, nausea, vertigo, dryness in mouth.
: Drug intake - Some drugs like antidepressants, antipsychotics, caffeine can cause tremors in hands. They can even cause imbalance while walking.
: Diabetic neuropathy
: Cerebellar damage - If you are having walking and balance difficulty, tremors which increase on working, incoordination of movements, it could be due to cerebellar damage.
: It can be due to Parkinson, age related diffuse cerebral atrophy, thalamic damage
: Normal pressure hydrocephalus
: Cervical myelopathy
I have mentioned few important causes of hand shaking. You must consult neurologist for evaluation. He will do few tests like
: Complete neurological examination along with cerebellar signs
: Blood sugar, kidney and liver function tests
: Serum sodium, calcium and potassium
: MRI of brain and screening cervical spine if MRI brain was normal
After it, he will reach upto some conclusion. Only after that treatment can be started. You can tell me the reports and examination. I will try to help you.
Thanks. If you have any queries, do let me know.
Take care
