What Causes Undigested Metformin In Stool?
Question: I take 20th metformin daily , why is entire tablet evacuated in bowel movements , completely intact, not metalized .
Brief Answer:
Please mention whether the tablet is SR, sustained releasing
Detailed Answer:
Hi Madam, I have gone through your query and understood your concerns.
The tablet has two forms, one normal which acts for 12 hours, the other Sustained releasing(SR). this acts for 24hrs.
The complaint you have mentioned mostly happens with 2nd type, because the tablet is coated like that to release the drug for 24hours.
So in between if you go for a bowel, it is seen as full tablet.
Another reason may be because of diarhea.
Forr more details, make sure your follow up query will have details like type of tablet, how many times a day you take, since when you are taking etc
Thank you mam
