Get ultrasound of uterus and ovaries done.
Detailed Answer:
Hi,
Welcome to Healthcare Magic.
I am Dr Ramadevi Wani. I will be answering your concerns today.
I appreciate your concerns.
Are your menstrual cycles regular? Do you have polycystic ovary disease?
If this period was after amenorrhoea of 2-3 months, then it could be due to the estogen effect.
If you have regular periods, since you have ruled out pregnancy, the other possibility can be endometrial polyp ( growth from lining of uterus) causing this heavy bleeding. Thyroid function abnormalities (hypothyroidism), fibroids (benign growths of uterine muscle) can also cause heavy bleeding.
So I suggest you consult doctor and get an ultrasound done to find out if you have fibroids or polyp. If ultrasound is normal, you can wait for the next cycle and see. If the bleeding is heavy again get your thyroid hormones tested.
I hope this helps. If you have further concerns, I will be happy to answer.
Best wishes,
Dr Rama
