Question: I have urticaria from 3 years now. My bilirubin is higher (2.11 and now 1.52). Any trouble you see with this? Anything wrong with my lever? LFT other parameters are normal. Please suggest.

My age is 41 and I started playing tennis for an hour daily from 3 years that's when itching started (this is my guess) . I also had acidity problem (acid reflux) for 4-5 months in the same period in year 2012. I don't have any appetite issue or no nausea/vomiting issue. I feel tiring with bodbodyache after waking up for few minutes but then all Ok in the day. From 2012, I am taking antihistamines through physician, then through skin specialist for few months. I have been to homeopathic treatment for 6 months for itching. Which antihistamines is best for my case with least side effects. My sgot, sgpt parameters are normal.

Detailed Answer:
Hello Mr XXXXXXX
Thanks for your reply and reports
Looking at your reports and detailed medical history urticaria can be caused due to any of following
obstructive jaundice
deficiency of certain enzymes like XXXXXXX syndrome
infection with hepatitis B ( immune complexes starts depositing in skin)

Since your bilirubin is slightly elevated with normal SGPT and SGOT reports, so you need not to worry
In my opinion your doctor should rule out all these conditions one by one by an Ultrasound abdomen and ERCP if need be.

Meanwhile avoid fatty fried food and avoid strenuous exertion as well as complete abstinence of smoking and alcoholis required until any diagnosis establishes

Hope this answers your question please feel free to ask for more clarification, I will be happy to help you
Best wishes

Thanks doctor .I did quit smoking from last 3 mmonths. Can I continue with my tennis in the morning for 1-1.5 hours daily? Also is it okay to take antihistamines like dynolap, citrizin for long term? How about drinking 1-2 units in a month? Forgot to mention, my USG of abdomen is normal, there's no fatty lever. What else we can check to diagnose correctly?

Detailed Answer:
Hello
I really appreciate your concern
I am glad to know that you have quit the smoking, please observe complete abstinence seriously.
If possible try to reduce drinks and subsequently stop drinking,

You should not take antihistaminics for long period of time, you should consult a dermatologist for an allergy test and to establish a diagnosis

increased bilirubin can be related to enzymes deficiency disease like XXXXXXX syndrome so you can discuss with your doctor about this.
Hope this answers your question please feel free to ask for more clarification
Best wishes
