What Causes Vaginal Bleeding After Having Ovarian Drilling?
Question: Hi, I have pcos and had ovarian drilling on oct 16 and i had light bleeding for 5 days.apart from pcos everything else was normal.. tubes, uterus all healthy... On nov 16th i got my periods but it was light periods ... used just one pad a day and it lasted for 6 days , day 2 to day 7 i took clomid. I was also taking ovacet and folic acid daily. However i spotted a bit on day 10 and 11 and again from day 15 till today ( 21 day )i am spotting, will get to know only frm tissue wipe. But there is a rise in bbt , .5 to 1 degree. So i am confused if this is ovulation spotting or harmonal imbalance? We had intercourse everyalternate day from day 7 to today.
Since i came abroad for a month with husband i cudnt visit doc immediately n seeking ur help.

5. In the earlier 3 cycles with Clomid, was follicular monitoring ( via serial ultrasound scans ) done, and was ovulation documented ?
6. Whilst you had ovarian drilling, fallopian tube patency also must have been checked, are the tubes patent ?
7. Is your husband's semen count okay ?
8. Have you ever conceived / aborted earlier ?

Since you have irregular cycles, it is not possible to say if this is ovulatory spotting or hormonal imbalance.
Ovulatory spotting lasts for a day or two , not longer.
This is most likely due to the hormonal imbalance inherent in patients with PCOS.
While taking Clomid, it is imperative to go for follicular scanning, otherwise you are just taking the drug ( which has its own side effects ) and not even knowing if you are ovulating in response to it.
More than 6 cycles of Clomid are not supposed to be undertaken, so with each cycle that follicular monitoring is missed, you are losing a chance.
Hope this is clear.
The only reliable method to document ovulation is to have a follicular scanning done.
Since you are abroad, for this cycle, nothing much can be done.
Remain sexually active as much as possible, and take a pregnancy test after another 10 days if you do not have a proper period by then.

Thank you doc. ... i just had one last question, why is my bbt rising? Is there any other reason apart from ovulation which causes bbt rise? I do not have any other extrenall cause that cud cause this , like stress etc etc .... also my nipples have become little harder than normal from last 6 days and it pains a bit When touched .

Yes i m using spl termometer meant for bbt. And i was recording it after i travelled n i saw a steep rise frm day 15 of periods which was 25th day after i travelled no other hectic schedules as such.so wat cud be the reason for rise on bbt?.
