What Causes Vaginal Bleeding After Taking Effexor?
Question: I am a post menopausal female 54 years old. I started having vaginal bleeding when I wipe. Have not been for a pap in 7 years. I started taking Effexor and I wonder if that could post menopausal bleeding? It just started yesterday and I am very nervous.I NOTICED A TINGE OF GREEN MUSUS SATURDAY NIGHT WHEN I WIPED AND THEN ON SUNDAY IS WHEN I NOTICED THE BLOOD

Yes! you are thinking in a right way. Effexor may cause vaginal bleeding but it is not it's usual side effect. So in my opinion you should first consult your treating doctor and stop taking drug. Then wait and watch for your bleeding.
In postmenopausal women Pap smear is recommended every six months to one year period, so you are already due for it, so their is no harm in doing it.
In my opinion you should rule out postmenopausal bleeding also because it is very important. If bleeding continues, go for ultrasonography to see endometrial thickness and other causes of post menopausal bleeding.
You should go for endometrial biopsy to rule out endometrial cancer (it is the most common cause in your age).
Do not get stressed from my opinion. Precaution is always better.
