What Causes Vaginal Bleeding While On Norlevo?
Question: Hi, I have a question. I had unprotected sex on day 19 of my menstrual cycle. (1-2 days after ovulation, during fertile period, I have a 28-30 days cycle). He pulled out before ejaculating. I took Norlevo 1.5 mg, one tablet, more than 12 hours (approx. 14-15 hours). 6 days after i.e. on day 25 of my cycle, I noticed slight brown discharge, clotting slightly. The next morning it was followed by bright red bleed, but throughout the day the bleeding got fainter. I'm experiencing some mild cramps, lower abdominal area (like my usual menstrual cramps). I just took one paracetamol. The bleeding is scantier right now, lighter in colour also. Could it be an implantation bleed or lighter menstrual bleed following morning after pills ?
Brief Answer:
It is an early period
Detailed Answer:
Hi dear and thanks for your query to HealthcareMagic.
I have read your question carefully and understand your concern.
Vaginal bleeding after the use of Norlevo 1.5 mg is suggestive of an early period.
The most common side effects of Norlevo or other emergency contraception is an early period.
Secondly, vaginal bleeding isn't likely to be due to implantation bleeding because six days is a very short period for implantation.
Hence no need to worry because it is likely your period.
Hope I have answered your question and please feel free for any further discussion.
Best regards
