What Causes Vaginal Dryness And Bleeding?
Question: I had a total hysterectomy 4 years ago, and noticed that I am very dry in the vagina, and when I put toilet paper up a little and got a dime size to quarter size of fresh blood, I am going in my Gyno next week, but worried.

After menopause, your estrogen levels drop significantly, and the skin in your vagina can become very thin and dry- to such an extent that it cracks and bleeds. This condition is called atrophic vaginitis and is treated with estrogen cream or tablets that your GYN doctor can prescribe. Vaginal estrogen will also help with librictaion if you are sexually active.
Unless your hysterectomy was done to treat cancer, there is nothing dangerous that could be causing your vaginal bleeding.
You also should avoid putting paper inside your vagina to check for bleeding; the paper itself may have scratched you causing the bleeding in the first place, or if some gets stuck inside it can give you an infection. If you had any significant vaginal bleeding, you would see it on your underwear.
So I would encourage you to keep your GYN appointment and your doctor I am sure will be able to reassure you and help you with your vaginal dryness.
